Postcard from London for Tired Pony

I just spent a couple of days in favorite city London for the Tired Pony show–Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Jacknife Lee joining ringleader Gary Lightbody and many others for the group’s only European show in support of the brilliant new Ghost Of The Mountain record, and their first show in about three years. It was sensational. Gorgeous songs, beautifully played, and tremendous sound, lush and full, in the unique main hall of the Barbican of East London. It was indeed Big Music and had almost a classic Waterboys feel to it, and the crowd seemed to love every minute of the nearly two hour show. Me too. Mike Mills sang on Point Me At Lost Islands (and members of Snow Patrol and Editors also joined in the fun). Some nice coverage on the web and a nice preview of the show focusing on Peter: as well as news on the Tired Pony webpage, including information on their NYC show next week and LA shows in November. Go see them if you can– a very cool next chapter, and great music. For example, check out the title track of Ghost Of The Mountain
