R.E.M is one of 15 artists featured on KCRW’s newly released CD: “Sounds Eclectic: The Covers Project,” available at hearmusic.com. R.E.M. covers John Hartford’s Grammy-award winning classic “Gentle On My Mind,” made famous by Glenn Campbell in 1967. The CD was spearheaded by KCRW Director of Music and Morning Become Eclectic Host, Nic Harcourt, who recalls R.E.M.’s day in the studio: “It was one of those unique moments,” said Harcourt, “watching the guys work the track out on the fly with downloaded lyrics and then bang, performing it live for the first time, beautiful”
